Bombay, India
Bombay is India's largest city.
Bombay, India, is the economic powerhouse and the industrial hub of the nation. Most people don’t go out the Colaba district and stay only long enough to arrange transport to Goa, but actually it’s an exciting city that rewards exploration. Bombay, India, has great street life and nightlife and more bazaars than you could ever explore. Bombay, India, is the centre of the Hindi film industry, and produces about 120 films a year. This film industry is known as Bollywood, and produces films with a mixture of romance, violence, music and dance. The success of a film is determined by its stars, choreography and playback singers, not by its message.
Bombay, India, actually became Mumbai in 1996. The name ‘Mumbai’ is
derived from Mumba Devi, a Koli goddess,
worshipped by the original Koli inhabitants. This name change is
extending to street names and public buildings, and colonial street
names are officially renamed with lengthy Marahati names, but most
colonial street names are still popular in usage.
