Capital of India

The capital of India at a glance.

The capital of India is Delhi, the third largest city of the country. Old Delhi was the capital of Muslim India and a lot of mosques, monuments and forts testify to this. The British built New Delhi as the imperial capital and contains embassies and government buildings. The capital of India is one of the country’s busiest entrance points for overseas flights.

The capital of India has a long and fascinating history and there’s a lot to see and to do, but few travellers have anything good to say about this city. Tired from a long journey, it can be too much to deal with beggars, touts, traffic, myriad smells, noise and pollution all at the same time.

It’ relatively easy to find your way around in the capital of India, although it’s a very spread out city. The most interesting part of Delhi is on the west bank of the Yamuna River. In the north of this section you find the tightly packed streets of Old Delhi, and in the south you find the spacious areas of New Delhi.
