Chennai, India
A glance at Chennai, India.
Chennai India is the capital of Tamil Nadu and is the fourth-largest city in India. The city has grown from the merging of some smaller villages, including its former namesake Madraspatnam. A lot of people still call it Madras, but officially it’s now Chennai. The main language is Tamil, but there are many different Indian languages spoken in Chennai India. In the north of Chennai India you find narrow streets with shipping agencies, budget hotels, bazaars, etc. The south is home to top-end hotels and restaurants, airline and tourist offices. Although there’s a sense of spaciousness and ease, the pollution is horrendous and at times breathing can feel dangerous.
There’s a lot to see and to visit in Chennai India. For example: St
Mary’s Church (the oldest surviving British church in India), Sri
Parthasaraty Temple (old temple dedicated to Krishna), San Thome
Cathedral (is said to house the remains of St Thomas the Apostle),
Government Museum, High Court Building, Fort St George, Film Studios, or
you can book a guided tour like the City Sightseeing Tour or the
Cultural and Spiritual Tour. |
