Delhi, the capital of India.
The capital of India is Delhi. It has a population of 11.3 million and an area of 1485 sq km. The older part has many Muslim historic buildings and mosques, while the other part, called New Delhi, was created by the British during their rule. This “newer” part of the city has many embassies, hotels, shops and restaurants. The city centre is situated at and around Connaught Place. There you’ll find hotels, restaurants, travel agents, airline offices, tourist offices and a wide variety of small and large shops. The Government of India tourist office in Delhi is at 88, Janpath. It has a lot of relevant and interesting information on all destinations in the country. Some of the main attractions of Delhi are: Kashmir Gate, the Red Fort, Coronation Durbar Site, Jantar Mantar, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Raj Path, Feroz Shah Kotla, the Zoo, Kutab Minar, the National Gallery of Modern Art, the Nehru Museum and Planetarium, Tibet House, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum, etc. The city has a wide variety of accommodations.
