Hotels in India
About the choice of hotels in India.
There’s a wide variety of cheap hotels in India, ranging from squalid dives to well-kept mid-range places. But you have to know that it is normal for these hotels in India to have minor imperfections, so don’t expect everything to be flawless. It’s even possible to find cockroaches or other creepy crawlies in your room. The Indians themselves may categorise the hotels in India as ‘Western’ or ‘Indian’ hotels. The Indian hotels, being more moderately furnished and having squat toilets, are usually cheaper. The western hotels are probably more fancy inside and always have sit-down flush toilets, but aren’t necessarily better than the Indian hotels. You often find poorly run Western hotels and well-maintained Indian hotels.
Of course there are also some exquisite but expensive hotels in India
for those with money to spend. They are generally found at the bigger
cities and major tourist centres. Sometimes it is cheaper to book your
hotel through a travel agent at home, so try to get exact information
about the prices before you leave.
