India  Clothing

Colorful India clothing is made with much time and effort.

The India clothing is the most colorful you will ever see on your travels. Beautifully colored textiles have always played an important role in society and trade, and are not only made for India clothing, like saris, but also for rugs, bedspreads, embroidered cushions, festival tents, etc. Recycled saris are often made into fashion garments for street sale to tourists or for export.

The traditional India clothing for women are saris. They are worn all over India, especially on special occasions like weddings. Today a lot of working women prefer the practicality of a Punjabi suit (a long kurta-style top with drawstring pantaloons and a flowing scarf), but they will still prefer a sari on those special occasions.

Expensive India clothing is made with a lot of care. A lot of thought is given to the style of embroidery on the base fabric, the color and the thread. Adornments can range from synthetic materials to silver or gold, beads, sequins, tassels and mirrors. All this contributes to the final cost of the garment.
