A mixed bag of India hotels.

There are a lot of cheap India hotels ranging from squalid dives to well-kept mid-range places. A lot of these cheap hotels come with mosquito zappers or possibly nets. Don’t expect these India hotels to be flawless, it’s normal for rooms to have minor imperfections, sometimes you may even find cockroaches or other creepy crawlies in your room.

The locals may categorise the India hotels as ‘Western’ or ‘Indian’ hotels. ‘Indian’ hotels are usually cheaper and more moderately furnished and have squat toilets. ‘Western’ hotels may be more fancy inside and have sit-down flush toilets. But these ‘Western’ hotels aren’t necessarily better, you often find well-maintained ‘Indian’ hotels and dishevelled, poorly run ‘Western hotels.

There are also some exquisite India hotels for those with cash. These top-end hotels are generally found in the bigger cities and major tourist centres. If you want to stay in a top-end hotel, it’s sometimes cheaper to book it through a travel agent at home.
