A look at the India map.

 

 

 Looking at an India map, you’ll notice that the country is bordered in the north by Tibet, China, Nepal and Bhutan. The natural northern border are the Himalaya. The Kanchenjunga is the highest mountain of the country with an altitude of 8595 m. the India map also will show you that the Ganges (Ganga) river is the most important river in the north.

In the north-east Myanmar (Burma) and Bangladesh border India. The map will also show the Deccan plateau, situated south of the northern plains. In the south  the Godaveri an the Krishna are  the most important rivers. In the west the country borders Pakistan. Situated in the Indian Ocean, south of the state of Tamil Nadu is Sri Lanka.

Bharat, as the country is called in Hindi, is immense. It has a lot to offer to the foreign visitor and tourist. Well known tourist destinations are: Jaipur, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra witht the magnificent Taj Mahal, Delhi, Khajuraho, Puri, the Ellora and Ajanta caves, Varanasi (Benares), Rishikesh, Calcutta, Chennai, Pondicherry, Goa and many more.
