India States
About India's 25 states.
India’s states are: Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Sikkim, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Goa. Delhi is not one of the India states, but is one of the seven union territories. In India, states have an important degree of autonomy, but when exceptional problems occur, they are governed (for a limited period) by the central government. One such an example is the state of Jammu and Kashmir. But many other states have been in that position in the past as well. India states together with the two houses elect the president of the nation. Each state has an elected governor. Every state has its own peoples, typical cultures and languages. Tamil Nadu, for instance, has little in common with Himachal Pradesh. This is one of the things that make this great nation so interesting to visit.
