Mumbai

Bombay is now called Mumbai.

Delhi may be the capital of India, but Mumbai (formerly Bombay) is definitely the economic and industrial capital of the country.  Mumbai has  a lot to offer to foreign tourists and visitors. It ahs an enormous variety of hotels, restaurants, museums, bazaars, shops and a well known nightlife.

India has the largest film production in the world and Mumbai is the main centre for this gigantic and (nationally) immensely popular art-industry.  “Bollywood” (from Bo-mbay and Hollywood) as it is known internationally produces films that are almost always a mixture of romance, music ( a lot of music), dance and violence.

The city of Mumbai is famous for its “Gateway of India”, which is an arch of triumph built on the occasion of the visit to India by British King George V in 1911. Close to this Gateway of India is the even more famous Taj Mahal hotel, the most famous hotel of the world.
